LoCholest to Reduce Cholesterol Can Upset Appetite and Digestion
LoCholest is an oral powder medication used to reduce cholesterol. It is a form of cholestyramine that comes in granules or powder and is taken by dissolving it in a liquid or in soft, soupy foods such as applesauce, crushed fruit, or cereals. The effectiveness in reducing cholesterol, which if unchecked can lead to heart disease, has been studied extensively before the drug’s release in 1996. The implications and side effects remain a problem with the use of any form of cholestyramine including the easy to swallow powder.
Cholesterol in excess builds up along the walls of the arteries causing them to narrow. When this happens, blood flow is restricted and the arteries can become hardened or clogged. Both conditions are precursors to serious heart disease, including stroke and heart attack. In order to prevent this condition, it is important to reduce cholesterol to below 200 mg/dL.
LoCholest has been shown to cause all kinds of digestive problems from loss of appetite, heartburn, and nausea, to gas and constipation as it works to reduce cholesterol. It can cause or increase the problem of hemorrhoids and even lead to unusual bleeding or bruising. Severe stomach aches and vomiting from the medication can be a sign of more serious problems and the drug should be discontinued while seeking medical attention immediately.
Negative side affects from achieving low cholesterol with LoCholest may not be apparent at first. The drug takes several weeks to months before it shows signs of reducing cholesterol or its side effects. Other drugs used to lower cholesterol may work more quickly, but also come with many undesirable side effects. LoCholest also cannot be taken with many other medications, so dosing needs to be properly timed to avoid interference.
You can effectively reduce cholesterol in much less time than with LoCholest by following a plan of good eating habits, exercise, and stress reduction. In two months the same reduced cholesterol numbers can be achieved and without negative side effects. The comprehensive program is outlined in The 60 Day Prescription Free Cholesterol Cure.
